Yanna for
Public Safety
Building safe communities starts with proactive, compassionate policies. Yanna will:
• Support Restorative Justice in Schools: Shift from punitive measures to conflict resolution programs that build stronger, safer school environments. Restorative justice fosters accountability and communication, helping students learn from mistakes without resorting to suspensions that disrupt their education. This approach has been proven to reduce conflict and improve relationships within schools, keeping kids on the path to success.
• Create Trauma Recovery Centers: Offer victims of violent crime mental health services, legal aid, and financial support to help them heal and rebuild their lives. These centers provide a lifeline to individuals and families during their most vulnerable times, ensuring they don’t face trauma alone. By addressing the long-term effects of violence, we can help break the cycle and build a stronger, more resilient community.
• Invest in Youth Development: Expand mentorship, education, and job training for at-risk youth, creating opportunities that steer them away from violence. Programs like these give young people hope, purpose, and the tools to succeed. They also foster stronger ties between communities and their youth, reducing crime and building a brighter future for everyone.
